Management
Goals
- To explore and analyze the large amount of data collected, especially focusing on occultations (fast and large amplitude phenomena) and transits (slow phenomena with around 1% variability in relation to the brightness of the star).
- To develop and utilize a pipeline capable of identifying signatures that indicate the presence of such phenomena, as well as extracting as much information as possible from objects that cause brightness variations in stars.
- To work on the development of this identification and classification line, which is crucial for generating new knowledge about the formation and evolution of the solar system and other planetary systems.
- To propose the development of multilayer neural networks for the identification, classification, and prediction of transient phenomena in high-cadence light curves. RNN.
- Given the large amount of data that the telescopes will generate and the importance of the project, it's essential to have a reliable internet portal to establish communication between scientists and students.
- Additionally, web tools will be installed using JavaScript, which will provide information about the observed objects and the progress of the project.
Schedule
The project starts on June 12, 2023, and we're going to be done on December 10, 2023. The project activities could be structured following the Cross-Industry Standard Process for Data Mining (CRISP-DM) methodology, which is a commonly used data mining approach. This methodology has six phases: Domain Understanding, Data Understanding, Data Preparation, Modeling, Evaluation, and Deployment.
Phase | Activities | Estimated Time |
Business domain | Define the project objectives and requirements from a business perspective. | June 12 - June 26, 2023 |
Data Understanding | Initial data collection, describe data, explore data, and verify data quality. | June 27 - July 26, 2023 |
Data Preparation | Data preprocessing, cleaning, transformation, and integration. | July 27 - September 10, 2023 |
Modeling | Select modeling technique, generate test design, build model, and assess the model. | September 11 - October 25, 2023 |
Evaluation | Evaluate results, review process, and determine next steps. | October 26 - November 15, 2023 |
Deployment | Plan deployment, plan monitoring and maintenance, produce final report, review project, and finalize the project. | November 16 - December 10, 2023 |
