Assignment 2.3 The end of oil

We need oil, natural gas, and coal because they have been the primary sources of energy for several decades. However, we must acknowledge that they also pose significant environmental and health risks. Additionally, we spend more energy than we can gain, and our energy return is low. We have also reached the peak energy supply. While some economists believe that disruptive technology will eventually replace fossil fuels, we currently don't have any viable alternative sources for our current economic behavior. However, we are seeing ongoing research and development of renewable energy sources such as wind, solar, hydropower, and geothermal that offer a sustainable and environmentally friendly alternative to fossil fuels. It's important to note that transitioning to renewable energy sources may pose some economic challenges, but it is essential for ensuring a sustainable future for our planet and its inhabitants.

Dermot O'Connor's documentary shows that reality and leads us to think about the end of oil being close and the economic growth that motivates thereof. Renewable energy sources don’t lead to plentiful supply. Nuclear energy is not enough. Maybe fusion energy may a good alternative if someone solves its challenges.

Since COVID-19 is not current, we’ve been returning to old habits, so whatever we've learned in that time is gone. Despite some jobs might be remote, workers, students, and managers have got to produce. What is the big picture? Even though some lower performance is reached, we must care about the environment and orient the incentives or nudges into more remote work and reduce the energy spent.

Our future is uncertain and we don’t have any good solution soon. However, since the end of oil has begun, a lot of countries have started and accelerated the trend toward cleaner energy sources and it’s likely the energy of the future will likely be a mix of renewable energy sources and a big reduction in our economic growth.

I hope the Doomsday Clock doesn't reach its end for any reason.
